Description:

Small, lightweight, robust design – just 110g the new ‘mini’ Power Distribution Module from CARTEK has been designed to replace fuses and relays therefore simplifying the vehicles wiring. These mini Power Distribution Modules can be used as expansion units for larger PDM’s or can be used separately.

The PDM-5 is a configurable Power Distribution Module featuring 5 x 20A outputs. This PDM can also be configured to become a dedicated Headlight or Spot Lamp controller.

Coming Soon! A new addition to the CARTEK PDM family – the CARTEK PDM-8C.

This PDM features 8 outputs in total of which:

  • 2 x high-current outputs with a maximum current limit of 40 Amps each – recommended 30 Amp continuous.
  • 4 x outputs with a maximum current limit of 20 Amps each – recommended 15 Amp continuous.
  • 2 x outputs (optimised for wiper motors) with a maximum current limit of 15 Amps each – recommended 10 Amp continuous.
  • Outputs can handle nominal inrush spikes without causing the output to trip. For high inrush loads there is also the option of Soft-start.

The CARTEK PDM-8C has also been designed with a choice of pre-set functions which allows timed output controls for use by Fuel Pumps, Rad Fans, Heated Screen etc.

Full headlight control:

It also features a choice of dedicated logic functions to control Headlights (tail lights/low beam/high beam/spot light). Tail Light output will automatically come on if either low beam or high beam outputs have been activated. Spot Light logic where the output will only turn on if High Beam has been activated. A headlight flash input can also be configured where you have a choice of which lights to flash (Low beam/High beam/Spot Lights) as well as a choice of flash frequencies.

Wiper motor control:

The PDM-8C has been designed with 2-speed wiper motor control in mind. Low speed and High speed functions can be chosen as well as a wash pump function which will automatically activate the High speed output if used. The Wiper park input can be configured to react with a falling edge (Active low – most common) or rising edge (Active high) signal.
Outputs can be activated by the configurable input pins, or by receiving CAN messages. The PDM-8C also features 3 Auxiliary inputs which can be configured with a range of modes such as Ignition input, Wiper Park input, Headlight Flash input etc.
Each channel has an input and output status LED with additional diagnostic data available through the CAN data stream.
All configuration of the PDM-8C can be completed through the use of the integrated push button and observing LED flash patterns (so no external software is required). The PDM-8C can also be configured through CAN messages.

Key Features

  • Small, lightweight, robust design – just 220g.
  • Fully potted for protection from water and dirt, shock and vibration.
  • All connections via 2 x sealed 12 pin Deutsch DT connector.
  • Tripped outputs can be reset by either performing a power cycle or by pressing the button on the PDM device.
  • Control inputs can be configured for high or low level signal activation, rising edge or falling edge triggers, or PWM input signals (200hz max).
  • Outputs have selectable functions including Flashing (for indicators), Time delay On (for heated screens etc), Time delay Off (to operate fans when car is switched off).
  • PDM’s have a configurable ‘Aux’ Input pin that can act as an Ignition input e.g. signal from Battery Isolator, master switch or ignition switch.
  • RGB status LED’s on PDM indicate status of Inputs and Outputs.
  • PDM-08C has eight power outputs plus CAN Bus connectivity for transmitting diagnostic data including output status, volts, amps, configuration settings, etc. Outputs can also be operated through CAN Bus.
  • All programming is through integrated pushbutton on PDM – no laptop required.
